Genbikei Gorge is a 2-km stretch of the Iwai River, known for its rugged scenery and dynamic stretches of whitewater. A national monument, the boulders and cliffs here are framed by cherry blossoms in the spring, azaleas in the summer, and brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow leaves in autumn. The sound of rushing water delights visitors on the viewing platform, or from the walking trail that traces both sides of the gorge. Horse carriage rides are also available April through October.
(Designated a national place of scenic beauty/natural monument by the Japanese government)
