The perfect place to get off your feet after exploring the hilltop temple complex of Chuson-ji, this facility can be found across the street from the entrance to Tsukimi-zaka Hill and the path in to Chuson-ji. The second floor restaurant, Gen, offers a view of the hill up to Chuson-ji, and a menu stocked with locally-sourced Iwate favorites including mochi dishes and Maesawa wagyu beef. Mon, the first floor cafeteria, is a family restaurant with a diverse menu including the Benkei Chikara-Mochi set (an assortment of five flavors of mochi toppings), ramen, curry, and more. A gift shop is also attached, offering products from across Iwate and Tohoku. With large group dining areas, and ample car and bus parking, the Rest House is well suited to receive families or groups, and for those seeking a closer look at Hiraizumi’s history, the Hiraizumi Cultural History Museum is located on-site as well.
