Michi-no-Eki (roadside rest area) Kuzakai Kogen, Miyako City
道の駅「区界高原」宮古市
Driving east on Highway 106 from prefectural capital Morioka, after passing through a mountain tunnel you suddenly emerge into a green plateau where the horizon opens up before you. That is the Kuzakai Plateau of Miyako. The symbolic Mt. Kabuto-Myojin can be seen from the Michi-no-Eki (roadside rest area) Kuzakai Kogen, making this a perfect spot for a break from the drive. It is a full-service station boasting a restaurant with very extensive menu, a souvenir shop with products not just from the local area but also neighboring districts, and a tourist information center. Why not take some time out here to feel the breeze, amid a landscape of grasslands and white birch?
