Michi-no-Eki (roadside rest area) Kuji - Yamase Dofukan, Kuji City

道の駅「くじ」やませ土風館久慈市

The Michi-no-Eki (roadside rest area) Kuji has two parts: the Tsuchi no Yakata (Earth building) selling products and the Kaze no Yakata (Wind building), the tourism exchange center.

The Tsuchi no Yakata offers Kuji amber and seasonal produce, and is a great place to choose a memento as there is also a souvenir shop here. At the tourism exchange center, Kaze no Yakata, there are parade floats and mikoshi on display that are used in the Kuji autumn festival. Kuji is showcased, with a TV monitor showing footage of the festival and the traditional food of the Kuji on display. The restaurant also offers very popular bowls of locally-sourced seafood on rice.
