In view of its dry climate, hot days and chilly nights, and the limestone-heavy soils that resemble those of the Bordeaux region in France, this region became popular for grape cultivation after World War II. Edel Wein, established in 1974, focuses on locally-grown grapes, the Campbell’s Early and Niagara varieties in particular, to produce mellow red, rose and white wines. These Iwate wines have an established fan base. The winery’s motto is, “Good wine comes from good grapes”.
*Wine bottling, fermentation and cask cellar tours are available.
Make bookings by phone or fax at 0198-48-3200. Bookings for groups of 10 or more. Others are free to inspect the facilities.
