( National important cultural property )
This impressive red-brick building was designed and built in 1911 by Manji Kasai and Kingo Tatsuno, who also designed many other famous buildings such as Tokyo Station. Originally the headquarters of Morioka Bank, the building is still used today as the Bank of Iwate, Nakanohashi Branch. For those who like historical architecture, there is another former bank building nearby: the Morioka Takuboku-Kenji Seishun-kan Museum. Completed in 1910, this building is also a national important cultural property.
