The Hiraizumi Cultural Heritage Center was established in 2009 to document and promote the local history and heritage of Hiraizumi, including its temples and archeological sites. Many important artifacts unearthed from around Hiraizumi are exhibited here, alongside biographical information on the Oshu Fujiwara lords that ruled over Hiraizumi in its founding, and explanations of the Buddhist teachings they embraced in building the settlement and its expansive temples. Multilingual exhibits are offered in Japanese, English, Korean, and Chinese.
