Japanese paper is traditionally made with a plant called kozo. Tozan Washi paper has a history of 800 years; the paper is soft yet strong and has the natural color of kozo. It is used for postcards, business cards, envelopes, calligraphy paper, shoji doors, etc. Other special products include Shifuori ( Paper-Cloth ) products ( bags, clothing, etc. made of Tozan Washi paper ) , and masks made of Tozan Washi paper. Kamisuki-kan is a Tozan Washi store located in the shopping area of Geibikei Gorge, where Japanese paper products other than Tozan Washi are sold as well. Some of the popular items are paper with designs and patterns, paper with colorful autumn leaves, and paper dolls. You can also try making paper at Kamisuki-kan. It takes about 1 week for the paper to dry, so your paper will be mailed to you afterwards.
