One of Tohoku’s 5 Great Snow Festivals, the Iwate Snow Festival is held at Koiwai Farm in early February. There are many snow sculptures, large and small. You can also have fun sledding down a large snow slide, riding a horse sleigh, or riding a snow train. There are many food and drink stands as well; Koiwai’s meat product booths are especially popular. If you get too cold, you can warm your body with various soups or amazake, a sweet drink made from fermented rice.
